Overview

The GST pages under Finance help you prepare your returns from the sales and purchases already recorded. You add your GSTINs, build GSTR-1 and export it as JSON, compute GSTR-3B and record the challan payment, reconcile GSTR-2A/2B with your purchase records, and track input tax credit (ITC) in the ITC Register.

Guidelines

  1. Enter tax periods as MMYYYY

Tax period fields take six digits, month first. For example, May 2026 is 052026.

  2. Reconcile before you compute 3B

Upload your GSTR-2A/2B and resolve mismatches first, so the ITC used in your 3B workings matches what your suppliers have reported.

Steps

  1. Step 1: Open the GST dashboard

Go to Finance → GST Dashboard. The tiles show Overdue GSTR-1, Overdue GSTR-3B, ITC at Risk (reconciliation mismatches), 180-Day ITC Risk and Pending e-Invoices. Click a tile to open the related page. Recent Return Periods lists your latest GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B periods with their due date and status (OPEN, READY, FILED or LATE_FILED). Build GSTR-1 on this page builds the current month for your primary GSTIN.

  2. Step 2: Add your GST registrations

Go to Finance → GST Registrations and click + Add Registration. Enter the 15-character GSTIN and the Legal Name as per your GST certificate (both required). Optionally add the Trade Name and State Code, and choose the Registration Type: Regular, Composition, SEZ, Casual or ISD. Tick Set as Primary GSTIN for your main registration and click Save. Use Edit to change a registration or Deactivate to stop using it.

  3. Step 3: Build GSTR-1

Go to Finance → GSTR-1 Workspace. Choose the GSTIN, enter the Tax Period (MMYYYY) and click Build GSTR-1. Review the tabs: B2B, B2CS, B2CL, CDNR (credit and debit notes) and HSN. If some lines have no HSN code, a warning tells you to review them before filing.

  4. Step 4: Export GSTR-1 and record its status

Click Export JSON to download the return as a JSON file. This page does not file the return for you. After you have filed it, come back to Update Return Period Status. Click Mark as READY when it is ready, or enter the ARN and click Mark as FILED. This section appears only when a return period exists for that GSTIN and month.

  5. Step 5: Compute GSTR-3B and pay the challan

Go to Finance → GSTR-3B Workings, choose the Return Period and click Compute. The table shows Output Tax, ITC Available, ITC Used (Rule 88A) and Net Cash Payable for IGST, CGST and SGST/UTGST, with the Total Net Payable. Click Generate Challan to create a challan for the period. When you have paid it, click Mark Paid on the challan. Choose the Payment Mode (NEFT, RTGS, IMPS, Cash or ITC Setoff), enter the Payment Reference and click Mark as Paid.

  6. Step 6: Reconcile GSTR-2A/2B

Go to Finance → 2A/2B Reconciliation. Choose the GSTIN, enter the Tax Period (MMYYYY), choose the Source (GSTR-2A or GSTR-2B), then drop the JSON file on the upload box or click to browse. Pick the upload under Select Import. Each line shows the supplier GSTIN, invoice, the 2A Amount, the Books Amount and the Diff, with counts of Matched, Mismatches and Unmatched. For lines that don't match, choose Accept Difference, Ignore or Pending Supplier under Resolve…. Click Bulk Accept Matched to accept all matched lines at once.

  7. Step 7: Keep the ITC register up to date

Go to Finance → ITC Register. Use Filter by GSTIN to see one registration. The cards show Additions/Opening, Reversals, Utilization and Closing Balance, and each entry shows its Running Balance. To add an opening balance, reversal or reclaim, click + Add Manual Entry. Choose the GSTIN and Entry Type, enter the Tax Period (MMYYYY) (required) and the IGST, CGST and SGST amounts, add Remarks, then click Save Entry. Check 180-Day Rule reverses ITC on entries that have passed the 180-day limit.

Key points

  • Build GSTR-1 and compute 3B per GSTIN and tax period.

  • Export the GSTR-1 JSON and file it yourself, then mark the period as filed here.

  • Resolve 2A/2B mismatches before relying on ITC in 3B.

Notes

  • The GST menus appear only when GST is enabled for your organisation's Finance module.

  • You can build, compute, upload and record payments only if your role can edit Finance.

  • e-Invoice is still being set up and does not yet generate IRNs from this page. Check with your administrator before relying on it.

Warnings

  • Check 180-Day Rule (and Check 180-Day ITC on the dashboard) reverses ITC entries straight away. You are not asked to confirm.

  • Mark as FILED and Mark as Paid record the filing or payment as done. Use them only after the return has actually been filed or the challan actually paid.

FAQs

The Return Period list on GSTR-3B Workings is empty.

GSTR-3B workings need a return period for your GSTIN and month. If none is listed, ask your administrator to set one up.

Does GSTR-1 Workspace file my return?

No. It builds the return and exports it as JSON. You file it yourself, then use Mark as FILED with the ARN to record it.

What does the HSN warning mean?

Some lines in the build have the HSN code UNKNOWN. Check those items on the HSN tab and correct them before you file.
