Overview

When a tagged item passes an anti-theft (EAS) gate, an event is recorded with the gate, time and RFID tags (EPCs) read. In Security you review each event and mark it as a false positive, resolved or confirmed theft. You also manage the gates themselves, browse captured photos and video in the Evidence Library, and follow up Incident Reports.

Guidelines

  1. Check sales before calling theft

Many alarms come from items that were just bought. Use Check POS Sales on an event before you decide what it was.

  2. Always add notes

Write what you found in Resolution Notes before resolving an event. The notes stay with the event.

Steps

  1. Step 1: Open EAS Events

Go to Security → EAS Events. The cards show Total Events, Pending, False Positives, Confirmed Thefts, Resolved and the false-positive rate (FP Rate). Filter by Site and Status. The list refreshes every 30 seconds. Each row shows the time, gate, how many tagged items (EPCs) were read and the status.

  2. Step 2: Look into an event

Click View / Resolve on an event. EAS Event Details shows the Gate, Location and EPC Count, a View Evidence link if evidence was captured, and Tagged Items with each EPC, its SKU and tag state. Click Check POS Sales to see whether these items were recently sold, which usually means a false positive.

  3. Step 3: Resolve the event

Type what you found in Resolution Notes. Then click ✓ False Positive if nothing was taken, Resolve to close it without either label, or ⚠ Confirm Theft if items were stolen. These actions are available while an event is pending or under investigation.

  4. Step 4: Set up your gates

Go to Security → EAS Gates. First choose the site in Filter by Site, so its locations can be listed. Click + Add Gate, then choose the Site and Location and enter a Gate Code (for example GATE-01) and Gate Name (for example Main Exit). All four are required. Optionally add the RFID reader's Reader IP Address. Click Create Gate. Use Edit to change the name, reader IP or Status (Active or Inactive), or Delete to remove a gate.

  5. Step 5: Review evidence

Go to Security → Evidence Library. Filter by Site, Type (Images, Videos, Snapshots or Clips), Source (EAS Gate, Audit, Manual Upload or CV Auto-Capture) and Date Range (Today, Yesterday, Last 7 days, Last 30 days or Custom). Click an item to view it with its Details, such as when it was captured, the camera and how long it is kept (Retention). Click Download to save it. Use the flag icon to flag important items and the bin icon to delete one.

  6. Step 6: Track incidents

Go to Security → Incident Reports. The cards show the Total, Open, Investigating and Resolved incidents, the Est. Loss and the amount Recovered. Filter by Site, Status and Type (Theft, Shrinkage, Damage, Fraud or Other). Click an incident to see its severity, dates, losses, description and linked tags. Under Update Status, click OPEN, INVESTIGATING, RESOLVED, CLOSED or ESCALATED to move it on.

  • Deleting a gate can't be undone. To stop using a gate for now, set its status to Inactive instead.

FAQs

The Location list is empty when I add a gate.

Choose the site in Filter by Site at the top of EAS Gates first. The locations for that site are then listed.

An event has no evidence.

The details show No evidence captured when no photo or clip was saved for that alarm. Check the Evidence Library for that site and time.

Can I undo a False Positive or Confirm Theft?

No. Once an event has been resolved, the resolve buttons are no longer shown for it.
