Smart racks: set up racks, planograms, replenishment and alerts
Add RFID smart racks and their zones, check movement analytics, keep shelves to plan with planograms, and act on replenishment needs and rack alerts.

Overview
Smart Racks are shelves fitted with RFID readers and, optionally, cameras. They record when items are picked up or put back. You set up each rack and its zones, define what should sit where with Planograms, and use Analytics, Replenishment and Alerts to keep shelves stocked and in order.
Guidelines
Set zone quantities when you add zones
Enter a Min Quantity and Reorder Point for each zone. The replenishment queue uses them to show which zones need restocking.
Activate a planogram before scanning
A planogram starts as a draft. Add its placement rules, assign racks, then Activate it so drift scans can check the racks against it.
Steps
Step 1: Open Smart Racks
Go to Smart Racks → All Racks. Cards at the top show Total Racks, RFID Enabled, Camera Enabled and Active Alerts, with Movement Activity (Last 24h) below. Search by code, name or site, filter by site, and tick Active only to hide inactive racks. Each rack card shows its site, whether it has a reader and camera, its capacity and the number of zones.
Step 2: Add a rack
Click Add Rack. Choose the Site and enter a Rack Code (both required). Optionally add a Rack Name, Rack Type (Standard, Refrigerated, High Value or End Cap), Capacity (Items), Reader ID and Camera ID. Click Create Rack.
Step 3: Add zones and follow a rack
Click a rack card to open it. On the Zones tab, click Add Zone and enter the Zone Code, Shelf Level and Position (required), plus Antenna Port, Min Quantity and Reorder Point. The other tabs show Movements, the rack's Alerts, its Analytics, and its Planogram compliance.
Step 4: Review analytics
Go to Smart Racks → Analytics. Rack Movement Analytics shows totals for the chosen period (from the last 4 hours to the last 7 days), an Event Distribution, an Activity Heatmap, Movement Trends, Zone Performance, Most Active Zones and Direction Flow.
Step 5: Create a planogram
Go to Smart Racks → Planograms and click New Planogram. Enter a Planogram Code (required), and optionally a Name, Description, Effective From and Effective Until. Open the planogram, click Add Rule and choose the Zone, SKU, Expected Qty, Min Qty, Facings and Priority for each placement. On Rack Assignment, click Assign next to each rack, then click Activate.
Step 6: Check planogram compliance
Click Scan All Racks on the Planograms page to check every rack against its active planogram, or Run Drift Scan on a rack's Planogram tab. The Compliance Overview shows each rack's compliance with counts of compliant, partial and violated rules. Filter the list by All, ACTIVE, DRAFT or ARCHIVED.
Step 7: Restock from the replenishment queue
Go to Smart Racks → Replenishment. The Replenishment Queue lists zones that need restocking, most urgent first, with Critical (Below Min) and Reorder Point Reached counts. Each row shows the zone, rack, store, current quantity, Min Qty, Reorder Pt, Deficit and recent pickups. Filter by Critical Only or Reorder Only.
Step 8: Handle alerts
Go to Smart Racks → Alerts. Cards count New Alerts, Acknowledged, Resolved and Critical. Filter by site, status and severity. On a new alert, click Acknowledge when someone is looking at it and Resolve once it is fixed, or use the dismiss icon if no action is needed.
Terms
- Zone

- Planogram
A plan of which SKUs should sit in which zones, and in what quantity.

Key points
A zone appears in the replenishment queue when its stock falls to its reorder point or below its minimum.
Rules cannot be added to an archived planogram, and archived planograms cannot be assigned to racks.
An active planogram must be archived before it can be deleted.
Warnings
Deleting a zone or a planogram cannot be undone. You are asked to confirm first.
FAQs
Why is a zone not showing in the replenishment queue?
The queue only lists zones that are below their minimum or at their reorder point. Check that the zone has a Min Quantity and Reorder Point set.
Scan All Racks is greyed out.
There are no active planograms. Activate a planogram that has racks assigned, then scan again.
What is the difference between Acknowledge and Resolve?
Acknowledge shows that someone has seen the alert and is dealing with it. Resolve closes it once the problem is fixed.
